This is the night before life as I know it, is about to change.....
Recently I was told that there was something wrong with my liver. On top of having a few infections in my body & needing some major antibiotics (Cipro & Flagyl at the same time). I have been very sick and I am so tired of being sick and tired.
I have over come so many things in my life. My weight, however has been the one thing I have never succeeded on achieving and getting to my goal weight.
My "GOAL WEIGHT" is just a number, so I'm not going to discuss numbers yet. But what I will tell you, I am hoping that changing the way I eat, that it will help me not only feel better, but will help me beat this battle that so many of us struggle with every day.
It's so easy to just grab a quick bite at a fast food restaurant, or have processed foods. I'm all about cooking quick & easy! I am not a fan of cooking. Don't get me wrong, I cook, but unless it's something I really want, I love to have my daughter cook! She is the one who loves to experiment. I guess because I have always struggled with food, that it's not my favorite thing to do. Now bake, I LOVE LOVE LOVE to bake. I get such great satisfaction at watching people eat what I bake! Holidays are my favorite! I bake more stuff that you could ever imagine.
I was speaking with a coworker, who has been doing a grain free diet for the last 10 months. Another coworker had suggested I speak with him. So, I sat down and wrote an email to him. Explaining I heard he was "The Man to go to on food & lifestyle changes". I asked him if he could help me & suggest some websites & also any suggestions he had on what I could do, after I gave him a run down of my thyroid disease, high blood pressure, Depression, and let's not forget the newly discovered liver "issues" that they don't even know yet what is wrong. So, he suggested I start by cleaning out my pantry & fridge, and get rid of everything processed. "I knew Spaghetti my absolute favorite" was the top of that list! UGGG! I absolutely LOVE PASTA!!! How am I going to do this? That never even crossed my mind. I thought, ok, I can do this.
So He gave me a website http://www.marksdailyapple.com/ and I started reading it and boy did I get hooked on this guys website. Check it out & subscribe to him! There are so many success stories on his site. I have failed at all the other diets I have tried, yea, I did great at first, but this time, FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!
Since yesterday was payday, I went with my almost 14 year old ( in 3 days) daughter to the grocery store. We bought spinach, peppers of all colors, and I MEAN ALL COLORS! Onions of ALL colors, things I NEVER put in my food! Spinach and lettuce, and OMG, fruit and so many more veggies, I can't even think! I ended up going to 2 stores, got all my meats, fruits & veggies, and spent LESS money than I would have spent on all that other crap I'd have gotten. And I always thought "eating healthy is so expensive" well guess what, when you shop the outer perimeter of the store, You'd be amazed at all the great food you can buy.
Today, I wanted "MY LAST DINNER OUT" so I went & got my famous Chicken & broccoli from my favorite chinese restaurant & thought, Ok, this is the very last time I'll be eating it like this, loaded with all the calories & stuff. Well, I ended up not even eating it all. I threw the rest away, because I thought, if I save it, I'll already sabotage my first day & I AM NOT doing that! My daughter was very excited to go grocery shopping and pick out the veggies too, so I'm hoping this transition will be easier with her on board! She will still have a little grain in her diet, but for the most part, we are both trying to change to a healthy lifestyle.
So, sit back, and come along for the ride with us. If you'd like to join me on this journey, feel free to share your struggles & triumphs with me. We need to stick together & really beat this battle once and for all!
I hope you have an amazing New Year!!!
I'll be back tomorrow!
GodSpeed!!!
